Paris Mathematics Job Forum
Paris Forum
Hello Data and AI enthusiasts,
I went to the Mathematics Job Forum last week in Paris and it was amazing ! I went with a few of my university colleagues and we got introduced to all jobs related to mathematics and jobs that can be done with a degree in mathematics, both applied and fundamental mathematics.
There were a lot of companies and each presented their business activity, as well as, how they are using mathematics in their company and in their day-to-day activities.
Needless to say, data and machine learning was a topic of very high interest to all companies and to everyone present at the event.
A lot of companies were recruiting, and most were looking for data and AI professionals, either for an internship, a junior role or even a senior role.
Mathematics plays a huge role in data science and machine learning today and we really got to see it. And the demand is huge, especially in Paris, and in other cities in France as well.
There was also some demand for pure mathematics optimization, some related to partial differential equations and others about finance, risk analysis and insurance.
People came from all different places to attend the event. I met some old colleagues unexpectedly and some other old acquaintances that I have connected professionally with a long time ago.
And they weren’t just university students and young professionals who attended the event, they were also mathematics researchers and PhD students as well.
Everybody involved in mathematics one way or another was there so it was a very enjoyable experience.
I talked to a lot of people and a lot of companies. I networked with everyone !
I had a very interesting conversation with a senior data scientist at a very cool company about my “data profile” , my website and the diverse projects that I got the chance to work on. He talked about how he transitioned from being a junior data scientist to a senior data scientist, the difference between the two and what a junior data scientist does in their company.
Famous French research labs, famous schools and universities were also present in the event.
It was an overall amazing experience, I had so much fun, networked with a lot of people and met amazing companies.
I love networking events and I will be sure to participate in more similar events in the future.
Have a wonderful week,
Hind
