Hey friends,
Some of you might know that I am currently looking for a job, my first « real » job as I am graduating this month. I have been doing a fair amount of interviews and trying to balance everything out without experiencing any burn out…and it hasn’t been the easiest.
If you are in the same situation as I am, then give yourself some credit for sticking through everything and I really hope you get exactly what you want!
The job offers that I have been applying for range from Data Scientist, Data Engineer, Data Consultant and Data Analyst, mostly in France and some in Luxembourg.
This is what I noticed while applying :
Data Scientist : mostly about models and algorithms, it can range from NLP, Deep Learning, Time Series, LLM etc.
You will need primarily Python, TensorFlow, Keras and Pytorch. Without forgetting SQL. It might not come up in the job description but it will during interviews 😅.
Data Analyst : some form of ETL + Data Visualization, usually for Business intelligence.
You will need primarily SQL and a Data Viz or BI tool like Tableau or Power BI. Experience with an ETL tool is always beneficial!
Data Engineer : ETL pipelines, Data Warehouses and Data Lakes. The job is usually about data pipelines and infrastructure.
You will need to have good knowledge of an ETL tool like Apache Spark, and good knowledge with SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehouses and data lakes.
Data Consultant : the role is usually about Data Governance or Data Analytics.
These are my notes so far. They are not perfect, but this is what I have noticed (and experienced) so far.
I will be adding to this list and maybe posting it in the future :)
Also, when it comes to technical tests. I have done so far some SQL tests and some logical reasoning tests as well lol 📋
What do you think is missing from my notes ?
Have an amazing week,
Hind
Data Governance, Data Operations, etc...
