Hey friends,
It has been a while since my last newsletter issue. A lot of things have happened since; to recap a bit, I had a lot of exams and I was so stressed and anxious that my overall creativity was very low. After that, I took some time off work. Now, I am back at work and I am graduating very soon.
Exciting but very much busy months, and on top of everything, I am currently looking for a job 😅
Meanwhile, in the Data & AI space, Generative AI has made its debut. ChatGPT was deployed, everybody got excited again about Data and AI and the unlimited possibilities that come with the two.
A lot of applications use Generative AI now, including Photoshop, Notion and so much more.

The image above shows the Generative AI tool of Photoshop. It is called Generative Fill. It makes adding elements to a picture so much easier. For instance, the black classic car from the 50’s and the reflective pool were added. And they look really good. Link to the video.
Generative AI refers to a category of Artificial Intelligence that is capable of generating new content.
Large Language Models are a type of Generative AI. They are the algorithms that are behind ChatGPT and other “chatbots”, if we can call them that.
Large language models are designed to understand and generate human language. They are a specific category of NLP (Natural Language Processing) that uses the Deep Learning architecture Transformers. They are trained on massive amounts of text data and they have over billions of parameters.
What is hard about these models are not only the insane architecture and the parameters that they take in, but also, the HUGE amount of data that is needed to make such a model remotely possible.
We can all dream of one day making a huge model like ChatGPT. It is certainly possible.
There are a lot of courses on Large Language Models and Generative AI. The one I saw and that I am interested in is the Introduction to Generative AI by Google.
Have an amazing week!
